Snowless winter, so far

Well, almost snowless and warm winter continues. I felt like shoveling everyday last winter.  This is great!  My arm is getting better, or I am getting used to the pain.  Either way, I am making pots everyday. I have not done the mug week, yet, and may be not this year.  I have not come up with new items for this year.  I bought the drill press to make holes for the earring holders, but have not really tested in volumes.  I figure twisting motion is not great for the tennis elbow.  I have made several one-of kind teapots, not fired yet. I have two bisque, and am ready to fire next week.

Teapot 26

I had the first firing of 2012 last week before NYC trip.  The result was very good.

I could not come up a good decal idea for the teapot 26.  I was hoping two circles turning to green after oxidation firing in the electric kiln, but not.  I made the same shape and fired it last week. I like it a lot better.

NYC

We went to NYC over the weekend to visit our daughter. This was my first Amtrak ride to NYC.  It took 7 hours (350 miles).  I was pleasantly surprised its smooth ride.

At the Modern Art Museum, it was free night on Friday.  Toward the end of the floor between Picasso, Monet, Chagall, the whole floor started filled with foul smells, like feces. It was extremely disappointing, but we needed to seek the exit as everybody covering the nose. We were not sure the exactly what happening, but found Occupy Wall Street demonstrator on the second floor and shouting with the same smell. Someone said why they chose the free night, most of visitors came because it was free night.  Wrong audience. (or target)

We visited the 911 memorial, it was well done, even thought it is still construction in progress.  I visited the World Trade Center, before 911, right after the 911, and a couple years ago.  I still remember the big hole exposing the subway track.  It was now transformed into the two fountains, and there were new building constructions around the site.

A Happy New Year 2012

December was the 6th fewest snowfall in the record.  I have not seen this much ground in December ever since I lived here.  It is great not necessary to shovel the snow, especially my arm is still not great.  I went the acupuncture last week, and it feels a lot better now.  I threw some pots the first time in more than 10 days or so, and the arm started hurting a little. I have another appointment tomorrow.

I was afraid of going to the acupuncture, and postponing for while.  My wife and daughter went a couple years and told me about the hundred needles, and laying on the bed for a long time.  That kind of freak me out.  I went a different acupuncture place, and he used about a dozen, and hooked two needles for electronic pulse Massager.  It was not bad at all.  Will see.

Hope 2012 will be productive and interesting year, for me and you!
