Heatwave

We are having the heatwave this week, hit 98°F on Thursday, and harboring around 92°F last couple days.  Glaze firing and bisque firing kept the studio even hotter.  The bisque cooling around 600°F when I entered the studio yesterday.  I decided to opened the rid earlier to cool off the studio for today. These radiant heat will not go away for a couple days unless opening  the rid.  I opened the rid slightly at 500°F, and opened fully at 400°F. Then the studio became really hot, yea, 100°F.  I threw one sectional pot, and assembled it.  The heat sped up the drying process, but that all I could handle yesterday.

I glazed and loaded the kiln in one day in 96°F studio. I guess yesterday's  plan did not work.  It was insanely hot, but the forecast for tomorrow is a lot cooler, 80°F, perfect for the glaze firing.  I drunk 2 litters of tea during the glazing.  I think the body adjusted to the heat as a time goes by, except one point I though I would faint.  I went the bathroom and washed the face and upper body with cold water, that gave me enough time to finish the glazing.  Then, went the Sushi with my wife.  I will be ready for  Syracuse Arts and Crafts festival and the Park Avenue Summer Art Fest.

Sneak into the firing over the weekend just before the heatwave hit. We had a record high 98F yesterday, and I left the studio after unloading the glaze kiln, which was still warm, and loading the bisque.  I plan to glaze today.

Macbook liquid spill repair

If you ever spill liquid on the macbook and broke it, I highly recommend Expert Mac Repair in Washington DC. Our daughter spilled water in March while she was in Abu Dhabi, and brought home a broken mackbook. It did not turned on at all.  We sent out the mac on Friday, and received the repaired Mac on Monday.  Oliver, from the Expert Mac Repair, updated us almost minutes by minutes, and repaired it to the perfect working condition, just over the weekend. He was the third repair shop we tried.  First two recommended to replaced with the brand new motherboard, $800-1000 cost. One of therm actually further damaged the board while trying to repair.  We were not informed about the mishap, of course, until Oliver notified us.  even though, he continued to repair it.

We had another wonderful weather last weekend at the Corn Hill Arts Festival.  Hot day was in forecast, and people started buying while I was setting up around 9am (show started at 10am), and most of sales was done by 2pm (show ends at 6pm).  The next up is the Syracuse Arts and Crafts festival in three weeks.

The airshow is in this weekend, and Blue Angles are practicing today, and I had a very good seat in front of the wheel.

Corn Hill Art Festival this weekend

Corn Hill Art Festival is this weekend. I will be my usual spot, at the corn hill place, and usual 90F heat.  I fired the kiln on 4th of July., and restocked small items.  People are interested in below $30 items this year.

I had the periodontitis, and gum surgery in March and two weeks ago. I was warned by the dentist two years ago, but ignored it.  After lossing two teeth with infection, I decided to treat it.  The surgery takes about two hours, and I can't chew that side for three weekks. Now, rice sticks to every teeth as my dentist said the rice is the perfect size to fit between the teeth. It is annoying, but better than losing more tooth, I guess.

With my surprise, I sold more than half of small teapots.  I made some during the firing.
